Dermal Filler Injection

Dermal fillers are suitable for both men and women who have developed lines and wrinkles due to the ageing process.

How do Dermal Fillers work?
Injectable fillers usually consist of a crystal-clear gel, which is produced biotechnologically using stabilised, non-animal hyaluronic acid and water. Hyaluronic acid is a tissue-friendly substance, resembling the hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in the body. Once injected into the skin, the hyaluronic acid works to restore the body’s natural supply by revitalising and plumping the skin, instantly eradicating lines and wrinkles to provide a softer look.

What does the procedure involve?
A small amount of filler is injected into the skin using a very fine needle. Once the treatment is complete, the results can be seen instantly. Lines will be smoothed away or lips and cheeks will appear fuller. The treatment is usually very quick and often takes less than 30 minutes.

Are Dermal Fillers painful?
Most of the new dermal filler products now contain Hyaluronic Acid gels, which contain local anaesthetic. This will minimise pain considerably less than previous filler products. Of course, everyone experiences pain at different levels and those who are more sensitive to pain may feel mild discomfort. Therefore a local anaesthetic cream can be applied to the surface of the skin to numb the area. Alternatively, a dental bloc (similar to the one given at a dentist) can be used to further relieve any pain or discomfort, particularly in sensitive areas i.e. lip enhancement.
